Flexible postproductionHigh Definition recording is also preferred whenever an image-intensive postproduction is planned. Keying, substantial grading, image stabilization, etc., will produce a better final result if HD footage got feeded into editing suites and only output as SD by the very end of the process. High Definition VideoHigh Definition Video (HD) has in fact become a video production standard. The advantages of the new format are numerous. The image is much larger itself, it comes across as cleaner and more saturated, with better lattitute. Put simply it is 'better defined'. Future-proofDogFilm embraced High Definition (HDV, XDCAM, HDCAM) as the preferred in-house production format for a variety of reasons. Firstly, recording HD images we make sure our clients get future-proof base footage. Even if the project ends up as an SD DVD for now, it will be possible to reuse the original material and come up with a High Definition project in the future. AffordableWe encourage our clients to simply go for High Definition as the primary production format. The cost of producing videos in the more accessible high definition formats like HDV or XDCAM is only marginally higher than SD production. So, unless your project is intended strictly for the Internet or as a one-off SD DVD project, our advice is to embrace High Definition for superior quality and future usablity |
